b. x= -2 or x = -8
c. x= -2 or x = 8
d. x= 2 or x = -8
thanx !
Answers:
ok, you want the answer to equal zero, and we all learned that anything times 0 is 0. Therefore you must make both parts equal to zero
(x-2)(x+8)=0
a) x-2=0 isolate the x by bringing the number to the other side
x=2
b) x+8=0
x=-8
therefore the answer is D.
Pretty much, but I always thought of it as 2 ways to divide
(x-2)=0/(x+8)
or
(x+8)=0/(x-2)
both end up being
(*****)=0
so x-2=0
and x+8=0
ugh I hate how hard algebra seems when ur in it, but when ur out it becomes a snap compared to all the other crap you have to do.
