Your hypothesis is just the first part of your experiment. It's an educated guess that has yet to be tested. It's tested through a series of experiments.
For Example:
Hypothesis: The plant will grow faster if it is given more water than sunlight (or vice versa).

You'd then use an experiment to test if you're right. So in many cases a hypothesis CAN be wrong, but its just your guess of what will happen in a situation.
