You can write about ANYTHING and EVERY THING! Since you have your notebook, you can start writing anywhere. When an idea strikes you, jot it down immediately. You might not want to develop a full composition right away, but jotting down the idea(s) will help you remember the content of your coming composition(s). Fon instance, when you are in the plane, suddenly you feel akward with the person sitting next to you; you may start jotting down by asking 5 W + 1 H (Why, what, where, who, when + How).

try and be a journal writer or sign up to write headlines in magazines or write in a journal or diary
Write about your feelings about the world and how you can make the world a better place. Write about funny things that happen everyday. Write about real life stuff, because it is usually much more entertaining and interesting than fiction. Write about what makes you sad, happy, angry, pleased. Write (kindly) about your friends, family, pets. Write about your secret fears and wishes. Just start writing ... it will come.

The main thing is to write about experience.
However if you write regularly why not take another view like a reporter for the media or pretend that you are a school inspector coming to inspect your school.
What about being a scientist that is about to breakthrough with a new techology/cure.
The reason that I suggest this type of writing is that it involves researching which is a big part of writing wether its a novel or a book about short facts.
