there are so many different types of talk shows though. News talk shows are informative and entertaining at the same time, shows like maury and jerry are just encouraging people to be as trashy as they can,(like some people need encouragement) I am of the opinion that most talk shows, except for the morning news shows, are just for entertainment, like most regular TV sitcoms. Oprah is like a soap opera to me.
Some are good, some are bad. The ones I like are the ones that respect both the hosts and the guests (something like Oprah) rather than create a spectacle (like Jerry Springer).
