Question:What event of the 20th century (not 21st) has had the greatest impact on the world in which we live today?

Yes it should.
Erm... If we are looking at technology, it should be mobile phones, laptop? If we are looking at other stuff, it could be world war 2?
There were many huge events last century that altered millions of lives and changed the world course. I'd say WWI is most dramatic, because of the following:
WWI caused the roaring 20s, which caused the great depression, which caused WWII, which caused the Cold War, which caused the Space Race, Computers, Internet, and pretty much all the techology we enjoy today.
It's acceptable as it is. The most correct (or at least awkward) way to phrase it would be: "What event of the 20th century has had the greatest impact on the world wherein we live today?"
