How does calvinism and protestanism fit together AP US history hw help:S?

Question:ok..i know what the whole summary is but i dont understand one thig
is calvanism the same as protestanism.are the the same or did one have to do with the other

all i know is that calvin kinda motivated martin luther

Calvinism was a type of Protestant belief, but the two are not the same. Calvinsim refers to the beliefs of one man. Protestants come in many shapes and sizes, and they don't all agree on moral questions, etc.

You're right in that Calvin was sort of like Luther. He rebelled against the Catholic Church and came up with his own.

Calvinists were sort of like Puritans (the Pilgrims were mostly Puritans). They were very strict about morals (sex, drugs, and rock and roll were out of the question), and they believed that each person had to read the Bible and ask a lot of questions in order to udnerstand God.
Calvinism is a part of Protestantism, but not all Protestants are Calvinists. Anything else I could tell you would be far more appropriate to a Theology class than a History class. Good luck!
Calvin did "look up" to Martin Luther who wrote the 95 Theses. But both did not like how the catholics sold indulgences. So Calvin and Martin Luther have the same idea sorta but arent the same.
