plot is what happens in a story
conflict is the clashing of 2 people, things, ideas, etc that drives the story.
There are 2 main types of conflict:
1. Internal: this is where one character is struggling with himself (ex: Huck in huckleberry Finn. he is wrestling with how he feels about racism and helping to free a slave)
Now there are 2 types of external conflict:
1. man vs. man, which is where one character and another character are clashing (ex: In the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Jack sparrow and Captain Barbossa )
2. man vs. nature, which is where a character is clashing with nature (ex: in Moby Dick Captain Ahab s constantly battling the sea in order to kill the whale Moby Dick)
I hope this helped!
oh wait there might be another type of conflict but I don't think there is.

That's a plot.
Conflict happens with the clashing interactions between boy and girl. Boy thinks girl looks down on him. Girl thinks boy hangs out with uncouth characters. That's the beginning of a conflict. Then you add to it.
Girl's parents forbid her to see boy any longer. Boy's friends laugh at him for wanting to be with someone who insists on using a fork to eat everything - including a hot dog.
and so on and so on.

Man against nature.
A struggle that takes place in a character's mind is called internal conflict. For example, a character may have to decide between right and wrong or between two solutions to a problem. Sometimes, a character must deal with his or her own mixed feelings or emotions.
