If it's a short enough verse, try to come up with a melody for it and sing it like a song. Just a suggestion. (To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn...)
trying to remember verbatim is never easy, so dont try.try to put what ur reading into everyday use, that applies to u..sentence by sentence...not only is this a neat trick, its what the bible is about.: for example:
"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.".
Source: Ecclesiastes (ch. IX, v. 10)
in my world, i would think..."ok, i was having a 5 fingered shuffle, and although it was crap, i tried my best".try it, ull have fun and remember.the stories, not the banging the wang
Try taking the verse you have to memorize and looking into what it means. What other biblical scholars say it means, what is the verse representing, what is it saying, what is it dealing with. This way you will not just be trying to remember a group of words that have little meaning to you. I am not saying that I think the bible has little meaning to you. I am just saying that only a few verses or just one may not be giving you a good metal idea of what the verse is saying and relating to. If you try to understand it in context of the historical significance and meaning you may be able to memorize it better. Also try flash cards. Write down the verse, then write it out on 4 or 5 other cards except leave a blank on some of the main words and then try to read the verse and then come up with what words or word you are missing on your card. Just writing it over and over again will also help. Just while you are doing other homework, start by writing the verse down. Then about half an hour latter write it down again, then in another 30 minutes write it out again. That will help drill it into your brain. Best of luck, and think about what I said about trying to see a verse in it's context. That will also help with your spiritual life as well. :)
