Can someone be a manager/business owner at the same time?

Of course... why not? Loads of people start their own businesses and manage the business. Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but this seems like common sense to me. Look around you -- people own and manage businesses all the time.

Sure. Many, if not most. small business owners are their own managers as well. The business has to grow before the owner can afford to hire someone just to manage things.
I belong to the concensus. It would be different if you owned a "Fortune 500" corporation; but if you did, I don't think you'd be asking the question - at least, not here.
