How do you know what you want to be when you grow up?

Question:If so sure, how do you start? Would you to collage? Where would you get the income to pay a collage education?

Answers:
Where you go depends on what you really want to do. Not every career needs traditional schooling. Think about the things that you are interested in, things you're naturally interested in. Think about what you like to do on your own time. If you were really rich, what would you want to do for the next, say, five years of your life? Travel? What would you do then? Would you build something? Start a company? What have you always gravitated towards?

Be warned; money is a funny thing, and most people put a lot of importance on it. This affects yoiur future plans because schooling is expensive, and we're all expected to go to do something. But listen to this: taking something in school is a really good way of finding out if you really want to do it. Don't be ashamed if your first choice doesn't turn out. You can either take another stab at it or think about it and change directions.

It's up to you. Think about what you really want, deep inside, and what would make you happy to do, something you'd gladly work at for free. Make a list, think about it, keep coming back to the list until you have a good idea. Then talk to someone at a post-secondary school or in the field you want to pursue.

Do an "Informational interview". That's when you make an appointment to talk to someone in a field you're interested in and ask them questions about what the career you want entails, what type of training and skills they look for and other important things. But remember, do your homework before you talk to someone. There is nothing more insulting by wasting a professional's time because you don't have pertinent questions ready or you don't know anything about them or their company. Research will also allow you to be informaed and write up better questions.

By thinking on what you want, findin out what you need, and pursuing it, you are rallying your resources more effectively and going in a direction you actually want to go in. Good luck.
I want to be a psychologist. Yes I am in college. I'm broke and will be for a good long while because I am taking out loans to pay for it. Almost everyone I have known that has been in college has went because of loans. The only person I can think of that hasn't taken out loans is my boyfriend and his parents paid for it. Lucky bastard.
