It means 1 of 2 things:
--The person asked the post office, UPS, Fed-Ex...whoever you used... to forward the package to a different address. This might happen if the person was not there to receive the package and asked to have it shipped to work instead (or a friend's house or some other reason).
--You wrote the zip code incorrectly and it ended up in the wrong post office. The Post Office sorts mail first by the zip code. It sends all the mail for a zip code to a particular post office. Then they sort it out. If you wrote the zip code incorrectly and they are still able to figure out the correct zip code, they will change it and ship it to that post office for delivery.
Those are the two things I can think of. Either way, it sounds like your package is still being delivered soon.

that means your package is at the post office at this moment and will start moving again in the morning. so start tracking again tomorrow. If that does not work, I hope you kept your tracking papers and what the post office gave you, so you can go talk with them. good luck
the usps sucks but what this means is the person you are sendint the package to has changed their adress so they are forwarding to the new address and the check back the evening mean we are the us mail and we have no clue where your package is but we can email if you click on the link on the bottom of the page
Either the recipient at the (correct) address you gave left instructions with the post office to forward mail to a different address
or
You put the wrong address on the letter, and the post office forwarded it to what they believe (and you hope) is the correct address.
You should get another update at the end of each day about where your package is.
