Does anyone know of any self teaching Japanese books/ tapes?

Question:I want an easy to learn non complicated book,or casset, cd whatever it is that can help me to learn Japanese.

Answers:
I have tried too, but all the products I have seen are rip-offs. So beware. Try a dictionary, a textbook, and if possible, a friend who speaks japanese. Good luck to you.

Also, I neglected to mention, many colleges and Universities offer Japanese classes.if you have the time for that.
