Go to a college (say a community college) that has a Graphic Arts Degree and also get the 2-year degree in case you decide later on to attain the Bachelor's Degree. You can easily work for someone and then freelance later on.
Or maybe...do what my husband did. Go to work between the summer of your Senior year and first year of college (where my husband had no intention of going to college because he was bored with life) and realized that he needed to go to college. He went and then to law school.
I put off getting my Bachelor's Degree until I was 35 and am now finishing a Master's at 40. I do and don't regret going to college. I actually had no choice, my parents favored my brother and he dropped out so they thought I would too. You may just be a little burnt out by high school and all the drama at this point. Maybe you will feel better and much more energized once you are getting finished with your senior year. Maybe just go to college part time and see how you like it (also take some art courses). Maybe if you do it part-time it won't feel like a lot.
You could check into places like the Atr Intsitute and see what they offer in two year courses, or maybe look into your local vo-tech or trade schools and just see what they have to offer. Good luck
Why can't you guys work as a team and BOTH go to college? Each work a part-time job, share a car... you get my drift.
I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but if something happens in your relationship with your girlfriend, you're screwed without your own education. You can't get married, so it's not like you could go after her for alimony, even if that's something you would ever even consider.
It's really best that you work as a team and do it TOGETHER.
I think if you go to college and major in something you enjoy, you won't be bored.
You're too smart to sit at home, or to just end up with some training someplace. Talk about being bored with life...
A one-income household, on an LPN salary, is not really much to depend on, honestly.
Life is a journey, not a destination. My mom once told me that only boring people are bored...
