What do you think? What is the best way to use these mental tools and advantages? Dont you think that academia is over rated purely because it can be measured? In a war, business, survival, nature, relationship a BSc wont hold much credit but intiution will. Let me know your thoughts

If I were in school I would want Einstein's mind, but if I were in post nuclear holocost survival mode I'd want a caveman's. If I were a soldier in war I'd want Forrest Gumps tranquill lack of understanding, or Alvin York's devotion to saving lives.

you need both. people lacking academic intelligence are rarely taken seriously, and without cleverness you cant think improvisionally. so you need both definitely.

I often find that people who have spent their entire life in academic circles can be terrible at practical tasks and at just getting on and getting a job done. Experience is often much better than theory in my opinion.
We all say "i wish i could go back and not make the mistakes" so yeah! being wise to everything in advance would be a great feat, all those broken hearts and money saved, far better than knowing the capital cities.
I think it is a combination. I went to a high school for the gifted in NYC and I saw a lot of the kids there were disinterested in class not because they weren't intelligent, but because they were bored (I mean let's face it, what was Einstein going to learn in 4th grade physics?)
That being said, it can be very difficult to have a realistic discussion with intellectuals, because while they have a lot of the raw data, they are sometimes unable to factor human nature into the equation. They have a tendency to be elitist, where somehow they know better than the average Joe.
I would put my money on balance, strive for the middle where you listen to both intellect and instinct!
I know a few people who have lots of nice diploma thingys, they think they are so smart. But they huvnnae a clue how tae live in the real world. I'm glad I left school at sixteen and gained tons of life experience. I might not be able tae pass an exam thesedays but I can give ye some advice on stuff that goes on in everyday life!
