I can recommend these sites, which I typically use for just that purpose:
1. The Teaching Company sells university-style lectures in a variety of subjects (e.g., history, music, religion, etc.) and available in a variety of formats (e.g., dvd, cd, audio download, etc.) The lectures could be pricey but the company runs frequent sales which you could take advantage of. Or, perhaps you can purchase them on Ebay.

2. I-Tunes has a great selection of free podcasts available for download. Subjects include learning a new language, news commentary, history lectures, works of fiction, etc. Go to the I-Tunes store and search through the podcasts menu.
3. LibriVox is a service that provides free audio books for download through the web. They probably have about a thousand books (in the public domain) ready for download and a number of them are classics.

4. The Baldwin Online Project has about 500 children books available electronically and at no charge. Of course, these works are in the public domain.
