Answers:
Grade point average. What they do is take your grades, usually in middle school and highschool and average them. Same goes for college. Mine right now are:
A=4.00
B=3.00
C=2.00
D=1.00
F=0.00
So say if you get 2 As 1B 3Cs, what u do is:
4+4+3+2+2+2=17
Then you have 6 different grades from the 6 classes, divide that 17 by 6.
17/6=2.833
Your Gpa would be 2.83
If you are looking to go onto college after highschool, you want to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA If you do this you should also get a discount on your car insurance when you can drive. To get into any college you want you want to maintain a 4.0 in all of your classes.
your GPA score is you "grade point average". Your gpa can range anywhere from 0.0 to 4.0 depending on the letter grades that you receive. An F would get you 0.0 points, while an A+ gets you a 4.0 points. Then with all your grades from all your classes, you average it out. So if you got 2 A+'s and 1 F, you would have 4.0 + 4.0 + 0.0 = 8.0. Then you divide that by the number of classes. The example being 3 classes. 8 / 3 = 2.66. 2.66 would be the grade point average, your GPA.
GPA is short for grade point average. A value is applied to grades (usually A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1 sometimes a plus may have a higher value than a minus, depends on the school) and then the average is taken.
