Yes. have a look at the UCAS website under Tariff Points. BTEC is recognised.
I did the BTEC National Diploma at College and I won an unconditional offer on the basis of it! That was back in 1996 though. I doubt things have changed so much since then. It depends what you want to study at Uni. BTECs tend to be more vocational than academic, so I recommend applying to Uni to study a vocation course, rather than an academic one.

why don't you do an access Course instead?
I will be doing a HNC next year, which when I complete it will be NVQ 5, and I will skip the first two years of Uni
