Why is the flag flown only at half-mast until noon on memorial day?

Question:i know it is flown at half mast to remember and honor but why only until noon?

Answers:
Maybe to allow room to pay respect for any other unforseen events/deaths that may also dictate the flag to fly at half mast on the same day.
