Does this kind of fashion course exist?

Question:I'd really like to learn how to sew and put together outfits but all the courses I can find involve a ton of stuff I don't want to learn. I'm not interested in high-end fashion or being told what's in style etc. I don't want to learn about fashion - I just want to know how to make the outfits I want to.

Answers:
Yes, you want something like a BTEC National Diploma in Fashion & Design. Check at your local colleges. It's a good gateway course for fashion design at uni :-) I leanred pattern cutting, garment construction, textiles, and fashion drawing and styling, amongst other things. OR there are evening courses available just for pattern cutting...check at your local adult education centre or college.

You could always get a book called Metric Pattern Cutting by Winifred Aldrich - I think it's a college standard. They use it to teach pattern cutting, but it's so easy you could easily teach yourself.
