It's a good gateway course for fashion design at uni :-) I leanred pattern cutting, garment construction, textiles, and fashion drawing and styling, amongst other things. OR there are evening courses available just for pattern cutting...check at your local adult education centre or college.
You could always get a book called Metric Pattern Cutting by Winifred Aldrich - I think it's a college standard. They use it to teach pattern cutting, but it's so easy you could easily teach yourself.
