Doctors certificate 'Med 4'?

Question:My son has submitted ordinary medical certificates to the DSS. The incapacity benefit department requested a med 4,which he has sent off to them. I have heard that you no longer have to send in the certificates after you have sent this. Is this the case?

my mom is on the incapacity benifit and she has to send a med 4 every 4 weeks as they only cover you short term
