How can I become a better reader?

Question:I really don't like to read, but school is coming up and I know it's time to hit the books. Sometimes it seems like I can read a paragraph over and over and never understand what it's trying to say, What are some good tips on how to read better?

Answers:
It sounds like you read like me! Don't worry, you probably just have trouble concentrating (especially if you're not really into what you're reading). Boring stuff does not make reading any easier!

But what you should try is reading out loud. This helps me so much. I can usually read a page out loud in the time it takes me to reading one paragraph silently.

If you don't feel comfortable reading out loud, at least move your lips. I've heard people make jokes about readers who move their lips, but forget them! I bet it will help some.

There's something about saying or mouthing the words that makes it easier to connect to what you're reading, even more so if you can add emotion and things like that. Hang in there!!

You will definitely get better the more you practice.

(Did my spacing this make it easier to read? That helps me also!)
Sorry but you just have to practise. Try reading simpler books.
Read more. Start with stuff that's pretty easy. Then write a really short explanation of it.

For hard stuff in school, use a marker for the 5 most important words in the paragraph. You can use small post-its to raise questions with yourself about what something means.
i can understand ur problem.. i hav been thru it. this is what i did-
1) during the summer holidays read thru atleast 2-3 lessons in each subject. while u read each paragraph keep a note book with you and write in short and in ur own words about what that paragraph is trying to explain.
so when school starts u'll be ahead of the rest and that will boost ur moral and u'll feel like reading more.

2) i started reading a novels...at first i picked the easy english versions and then i was able to pickup and move on to more complicated stuff. cause basically i like stories.

3) read the newspaper everyday. atleast one article of ur choice.

4)go thru the basic rules of grammer once in a while. that way in no time u'll be the top most student in language skills.

all the best!
Well I think u must make it a habit to read at least for an hour or more.U should waste ur free time while playing or something else, instead u should read books and improve ur English.Or by watching English cartoons or hearing some English poems on the radio.u too can improve ur English by hearing the talk of other people.
I hope u liked my advise and work upon it.
If u liked my opinion ,plzzzzzzzz choose my answer to be the best answer.
