Reading...?

Question:i am a great student in honor programs but i do not like to read. how do i get more interested?

Answers:
Hi I have a masters in reading instruction. Most of the time people don't like to read is because they have had bad experiences in school reading books they do not like...books that are required by the teacher. Try and go to places like half price books or other used book stores and pick up things that look interesting to you. You need to read stuff you LIKE in your spare time. Then, when you are in class, you will feel a little more confident and focused on your school books. Also...a little trick...if you just loath your books you need to practice skimming and searching for important terms. Highlight text that is in bold because those are usually definitions and things that may be on tests. Read the text on the sides of the pages because sometimes those are important facts. Also, some chapters have summaries you can read to find out what the chapter was about without reading the whole thing. Eventually you will not feel so turned off by reading. Good luck!
