My son was nominated as a student ambassador by his 7th grade teacher. He ended up not going because of the cost(about $5,000) and because he just didn't seem all that interested. His best friend did go to the European People to People trip and he said he had a blast. So, it is a legitimate program. I'm not sure how to find out who nominated you. When I took my son to the initial meeting last year, the organizers were surprised that we knew who nominated him, so I'm assuming it's not unusual to not know.
Oh my god, I just came back from my trip. I came back on August 6. I was invited on people to people this year and I also went to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji just this summer. It was AMAZING!! It is a great program and usually they choose you from observing at school and through recomendation. If you have a friend that went on a trip like this you were probably recomended. As an alumni student ambassador, I totally think you should go on it. Because I went to the same exact place and it was AMZING and it is also a once a lifetime chance thatyou should really take.
