Most employers will be very busy they may not have enough time to read through the details, so your resume should be easy to read and large enough to help them read through it and learn more about yourself as quickly and clearly as possible. Most resumes use the basic Microsoft fonts like Arial or Times New Roman. However, fonts like Verdana or Tahoma is a better choice as it looks modern and new.
If possible, stick with basic-looking fonts like Futura or Avant Garde (the one used at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards) or Myriad (no Comic Sans or Handwriting fonts if you want to be taken seriously) and use only one font style only to avoid confusion. Hope this helps.

Anything plain and easy to read such as Veranda, Arial. Don't make it so tiny that one needs a magnifying glass!

Generally, hiring managers have to go through stacks of resumes. You want him/her to stop and read yours. Every manager has their quirks, so anything you do that's out of the ordinary might grab their attention, or it might annoy them.
I use Arial or Courier to be sure its easily readable, but typically I'm looking for analytical or management positions. If you're looking for a creative or artistic position, that might not be the best choice. Remember though, in a larger operation, it has to get by HR first, so conservative and simple might still be better.
You want to fill a page, so if you're just starting out and don't have a lot of history and accomplishments, maybe use a larger font. Believe me, those of us with bifocals won't fault you for that..

Pick a font that is readable and expresses you. You can use different sizes for different parts, headings etc, differnt presentation like italics and bold. You can also use colour.
The thing is: to stay readable
to stay consistent, not 2 or 3 fonts
to use something reasonablely sane, not like
clowns or something.
Be individual, but be organised, clear and presentable.
