GPA AND high school, university question...?

Question:I've heard some people said that you have to get at least a 4.0 to get into Harvard. But what do they mean, 4.0 for 1 report card / semester or for your entire high school years. Thanks for answering, I'm just really confuse and I'm a freshman. =]

Answers:
Entire high school years.
There are a lot of variables in getting in – GPA is just one part of it.
