Hi,
I've never used Rosetta Stone, but I know of something that might be just as helpful and a fraction of the price.
If you want to use the software to learn enough of a language for conversation, I'd recommend a course by Michel Thomas. I've got the "basic" one (it doesn't have a title) which comes on CD and within 8 hours you can get to a pretty good standard. I thought it was so useful that my parents bought me the advanced one as well! The basic 8-hour one was £70 when I got mine, but it's almost certainly cheaper than Rosetta Stone.
Of course, if you want to learn something like Mandarin Chinese, I'm not sure Michel does it, but you could always have a look... :-)
Hope this helps
Well I like it! It's easy and simple.
I prefer the language podcast subscriptions on itunes. Much cheaper. :] (If it's free, it's for me!)
