She could take family leave but they may need a reason. If she works at Wal*Mart I don't think she really needs to give a reason and why would it take her 3 months to find a job?

Seriously, she can talk to her boss about getting an extended leave of absence... I don't see why she can't get one because of "personal problems."
SIMPLY explain to him that you need a break.
Family matters. Bosses will not usually want details on that, as family business stays there, in the family. The boss wouldn't want your aunt to ask him/her about the fam, right?
