College essays... appropriate tone/voice??

Question:I am applying to colleges right now and have a question about college essays.

What type of voice should I use (like vocabulary and tone)??
Is it the type of professional voice we use in English essays such as analyzing the similarity between two novels...
or is this much more personal and a bit of humor and "me" can be instilled??

Answers:
Colleges look though essays really fast. You have to include yourself into it to even get a second look. the first and last paragraph are the most important pieces (colleges will look at them first, then move off to the others if they are intrigued or interested at all). so totally include yourself into it. Dont use slang or inappropriate remarks, but keep it with something you would say. They want to know YOU.
I would definetly add a bit of you to it! The admissions department recieves hundreds of applications, the only thing setting yours apart is your essay!
