Answers: Unfortunately, you CANNOT get a GED online. It is a management issued test and diploma, and can simply be taken at authorized testing centers. Any websites that submission a GED online are most definitely scam.
There are some websites out there that give a virtual-learning high institution diploma (which is very different from a GED), but most of these places require what recurrently seem resembling tuition-like fees (up to several hundreds of dollars). And it is unclear whether the services these online large school diploma sites present are legit or not.
The good word is, however, that in most areas the freestyle of all 5 of the GED test only costs going on for $60 TOTAL, although it could be more or less depending on your location, so be sure to contact local conducting tests centers regarding the fees. But this small allowance will be worth it for your sister to have a REAL GED diploma, a bit than something from a sketchy or fraudulent scam online.
Here's a website you can use to find a local testing center:

Good luck. I hope this help!
Edited to add:
If your sister's friend found a site to clutch the GED online, then you're greeting to try it if you want. But I know for a fact, from both personal experience taking the GED and from volunteering at trialling centers, that you cannot get a legit GED online. Here is one of the top GED prep and informational sites that further explains the online GED issues: http://www.passged.com/how-get-ged.php
As I said back, though, you can definitely find a high college diploma online. The fees at such places vary (maybe a few are free?), and although it is vague whether or not these high academy diploma services are legit, a few calls to the BBB and/or to your state Dept. of Education should clear up that put somebody through the mill.
I also wanted to donate that you can take GED preparation classes online for free. And I know of one site that I'd recommend to do so:

Anyways, righteous luck with doesn`t matter what you or your sister decide to do! Regardless of how you run about it, a elevated school instruction (GED or regular HS diploma) is a very celebrated achievement. Best wishes!
Don't trust any online GED sites. They are adjectives either scam or fake GED's.
