An instructor is always the best way to learn any instrument. However, there's nothing wrong with self-teaching, and the most important time to have an instructor is in the beginning, to develop a good foundation. Seems like you may have already covered that! that is the most difficult thing to do, because most people rely on the net, and thats not always accurate. i reccomend visiting a community college and see if they have violin instruction classes.
