Tech Math 1 is an applied arithmetic class. It is yet another way for the public school system to avoid the fact that all high school students should be required to take 1 year of algebra and 1 year of geometry (at the absolute minimum). White it will count toward your high school graduation requirements, it will NOT count toward your college admission requirements.
My guess: Technical Math 1 is math that relates to the real world, hands on math and easier for some to understand because of how it is taught.
P.S. It is a lower level math class. Before your friend changes math class, they need to really think about it.
Why was they enrolled in the class to begin with?
How are their basic math skills?
Is math a difficult subject for them?
Do they learn better in a hands on environment?
Math graduation requirements?
What do you want to do when you grow up?
I feel it is better to take the correct level of a class and be successful then one that I would struggle in all year.
Take this one this year, move to a higher level after doing well in this one.
