The odyssey - differences between the book and the 1997 movie?

Question:i don't have enough money to buy "the odyssey" book so i could finish a school assignment and even if i had enough money... i would not have enough time to finish reading it.
so i am going to watch the 1997 film that was made on the odyssey.
i am just wondering are there any big diffrences between the movie and the book? i don't want to miss alot of important stuff that was in the book like what a character said that had a impact on the story.. so are the movie and the book about the same?
and if not then is there another odyssey film that was made which is more similar to the book.

Answers:
You're aware that there is something called a library, where you can borrow books and return them when completed?

Right?

If there is going to be an exam+essay, the movie will only supplement.

I highly recommend watching the movie than reading the book. It can help visualize what you're reading, and make the book more relatable.
