Based on your projected scores, IB diploma, and GPA, you might be able to find out from some universities how much they would give you in the way of scholarship. A lot of public universities have a scale that they use to determine scholarship.
Lastly, once you know that you have gotten into a few places, you can negotiate your aid package. If you get into two or more schools, you can get the schools into a bidding war.
Don't be afraid of loans. A lot of jobs today are paying off students loans. You might look into that. Nursing, teaching, and some other select programs have ways to help "forgive" your loans.
