Well 2 years ago for school they made us do a video-class called super star student. It was so awful and boring, and we spent the whole time making fun of the teacher and watching the 'students' on the film practically fall asleep. The teacher was Tim Mcgee (Tim Mcgay to us) That summer the tape "mysteriously" dissapeared. BUT he did have a lot of practical steps to being a 'STAR' student. Some of which were:
Pre- read the text book of the next class discourse and take notes
To take notes during class, and study them later highlighting notes that matched your pre-class notes (those are the things that will probably show up in the tests)
To make a continuous two week schedule of what assignments will be due in the next two weeks. Then you decide how much time it will take to complete each assignment and you set time apart in you schedule for each assignment that will be due. [ I was able to get all the assignments for one week and not two, i did that just because I wanted to know what they were, and it really helped me know how much to study] Also make sure you make time for your fam, and time to hang out- life is more fun when you have fun!
Another thing he said was to make time each day to go over the important thing in your notes of the whole quarter or semester.
One thing that he said that we laughed at like for an entire class was a ten minute lecture on how you can read, but not really read. Like you will be reading, but not really retaining info. but instead kind of quickly going through while thinking about other things. Good point, but it was the most painfully boring ten minutes of my life.
There was more, but this was really the basic stuff.
If you make time for studying specific things in the order that they are due, and pay attention you will be worlds a head of many other students.
I wouldn't tell anyone to watch those vidios, but he did have information about writing a pretty good essay in there- luckily I have all my notes from super star-student handy so if you need that info- I hope no one really does, but you can ask me.
Find a good distraction, then get obsessed. Dump it and then treat studies with the same vigor.
if your going to actually try hard in school take the highest classes offered... you wont have hardly any goof offs...
