I would recommend to pay attention to the material, and just try to understand the homework, as it will affect your quizzes, which will affect your tests.
Always know how the examples can relate to a real world problem, too, and understand WHY it works. for example, 3x>6, x>2. In that problem, just understanding that if x=3, the equation works, and if x=1, the equation works, etc.
Other than that, study as usual and study hard because in algebra 1, you really have to think and understand to really get the full meaning of it.
