Answers:
A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1
You have to find out if your school weighs pluses and minuses. If not, then it's fairly simple. Add up all of your grades and divide by the number of grades you have.
If you have 5 A's 2 B's 1 C and 2 D's you have
5(4) + 2(3) + 1(2) + 2 = 30/10 = 3.0 You have a 3.0 (B) average.
Also, if you have honors or AP classes (again, you have to find out how your school weighs grades), you can usually add one to each grades, so it becomes:
A = 5, B = 4. C = 3, D = 2 (F should always be zero).
Depending on how pluses, minuses, and upper-level courses are weighed, you may get different answers. But these basics should give you some idea of how you're performing on average.
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0.
If you have a + or -, adjust the number by .3 (E.G.: B- = 2.7)
This may vary slightly from school to school.
Find out how many credits each class is worth. Multiply the class grade by that credit amount (E.G.: 3 credit class B- = 8.1)
Sum all of these numbers and divide by the total number of credits.
E.G.: 3 credit B- = 8.1, 3 credit B = 9, 4 credit A- = 14.8 . Total is 31.9 for 10 credits, or a 3.19 GPA.
Hope this helps

Schools have a different scale, but most often It goes like this:
A=4, a- =3.75, B+=3.3, B=3, B-= 2.7, C+=2.3, C=2, etc...
You take the grades you receive (Say an A, A-, and C) multiply the value by the # of credits, (Say 3 credits for each class) and divide it by the total number of credits for the GPA.
I.E. 4*3+3*3.75+3*2= 29.25 / 9 = 3.25 or approx. a B+ average.
