Children are little people and they should be treated just like people. As for the importance, we are all biased from the point of our individual upbringing. You are free to pose any hypothesis you choose because I have not noticed any identifiable consequence for the way a child is brought up. We all turn out differently as individuals except for say, extreme circumstance such as when some nuts keep their kids in a closet or something.
