Does being Spanish (from Spain) count as being Hispanic/Latino?

Question:I need to know whether or not I can check off Hispanic/Latino when I am applying to college, it is likely to make a big difference.

Answers:
Technically, based on the history of that term, yes, you can. It first referred to Spain and Portugal long before anyone in S/C America.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hispanic...

Read some of the history there.

Also - I don't believe "european" is an option on most forms asking for ethnicity.
No... Spain is a European country, so the people there aren't "Latino" or "Hispanic." Spanish people are Europeans.
hahah
Well my friend from Spain really doesn't like being called Hispanic or Latino. Most of the Spanish ppl I know prefer to be called European, cuz they do live in Europe. So I'm pretty sure that people from Spain are called European. Good luck with college!
