Well I started 6th grade last year. Well first help her get organized, ask her if she works better with binders or folders. If she works better with Binders get a half inch binder for each subject. Get tabbed dividers label them Tests, Homework, Notes.And keep the extras in your backpack if their are any additional categories. If she works better with folders(folders keep your backpack MUCH lighter I would suggest them)Get a folder and notebook for each subject. Label them according to your classes. Go to Staples and get their school supply list and get everything you need. You need a pencil pouch they are more flexible. And one more very important thing use your locker if you have one. Make sure she gets lots of rest,and make sure she has all of her materials. But the number one thing to help you in 6th grade is be prepared and organized.
Find out which books students will be reading in 6th grade. Maybe she can get a jump start by reading what will be expected of 6th graders. Becoming familiar with using the library and/or internet for reports and projects. Ask a 6th grade teacher for input.
