It can be. Life is what you make of it. I personally loved middle school because I had great teachers, great friends, and I enjoyed the education. I had some great times in middle school.
But it may not be that way for you. Many of my friends really didn't like middle school for different reasons. Most of them feel high school is a better place. Middle school is a place of transition. Your between being a little kid and a young adult. It might awkward. Don't be discouraged if you don't have great fun, there's always high school, which everyone seems to love.
Just be positive and have a good attitude about everything and I'm sure it'll all work out well.

Don't worry too much about losing friends and the "awkward stage" because it's really not. The more you think about, or if you think about it too much, you'll just think it is. You'll be fine, and if you lose some friends along the way, they weren't your real friends to begin with.
But study hard because what classes you take/how hard you study affects what classes you take in high school. And what classes you take in high school affects what college you go to. I know you don't even want to be thinking about that, but trust me. If I could go back in time, that would be the one thing I would change.
i'm just going into high school, and to me middle school was not fun. as someone else said, you lose most of your earlier friends and its just an awkward time in your life.

Middle school was the best. I wish i could go back in time and be in it again! those were my favorite school years so far! except i would change the group of friends that i hung out with.
