I got mine on the discount. They just had me type in the name of the school, and basically create an account. They never asked me for any verification or anything! My laptop shipped the same day also, so I don't think they would have had time to call the school and verify it either. They might not reconize all schools though, because when I typed in the name of my college, they made me hit a link confirming that "this is the school you belong to". I would say give it a try, if your school does not show up, just pick another because they're not going to check.
Discount or otherwise, they hardly represent a cost effective computer.
It doesn't matter what course you do, or for how long...just so long as you are a registered student at a college or university, then you are a student.
P.S I phoned up for this because I'm at uni, and they said I had to be working for a minimum of 25 hours a week. I asked how I could do that when doing a full time uni course, but they said it was the conditions set down by their finance company! If you get a better deal, let me know!
most of the time there asking for NUS card to prove your a student. providing your studying a course and you join the student union you can get one for free, some charge a pound but its worth it.
