I taught myself from scratch, and I'm doing ok so far. Just read up on what people have to say on the subject, and learn at your own pace. I learned songs that I like the sound of, and I may not be able to play them well at all yet, but I've gained a bond with the instrument that I would never have gained had I done everything that someone else told me to do. Self discipline is the answer =oD
