as long as you stay on top of every day school work , i always had the teachers send me a progress report every week, yes even in preK, that way you know what your child is working on during class time, ask lots of questions, and help with home work , that's a big plus , they don't get one on one much so the one on one they get at home makes a big difference, hope all goes well
the school system sucks

i know alot of ppl that went to schools here and when they moved overseas they had to stay back or something and thats no good sign.
It depends on the state. For example, in Indiana, you are not required to start school until First Grade. PreK and K are just to get them ready for school.

It varies from state to state, but generally children start in Pre-K or Kindergarden, which is often just a half-day.
Elementary school is Grades 1-5.
Middle school is 6-8 (but this varies greatly; some places don't have middle school and elementary goes to Grade 8)
High School is 9-12.
You need to register at the school of your choice before the fall. If you've done this, then they'll tell you when school begins and what the hours are.
Get to know your son's teacher(s) and don't be afraid to become involved and ask a lot of questions. Parental involvement is welcome - even volunteer in your son's class or other classes to help with reading instruction. That's the very best way to learn what the U.S. education system is all about. It's only as good as a parent is willing to put into it! Good luck!
Well, a lot of public schools are not too good. Some people use private schools because they have smaller amounts of kids to teach. I went to public school most of my life and I did not like it. I am now homeschooled and I learn much more.
