if so after just communicate him to act imperturbable around the girl because the person who is popular is lone popular making the girls laugh and acting tough... if your son think this girl is out of his league tell him to bond and spend some time beside her and mabey try to pair beside her during school events like group work and stuff :) it help him to know the person consequently he can really see what her personality is close to then he can resolve if he loves or hates her.

He's only 8, I regard as he should be more focused on school and not verbs about problems close to that. But if he (4 sum reason) really likes this girl he should ever so slightly, start complementing her. Not to the point be it's annoying but just human being nice.
