What does a Student Activities Advisor do?

Question:I s there anyone working for a college or highschool who knows about a position as an Student Activities Coordinator? Im going to an interview for the position and I want to get as much info as I can. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:
The student activities advisor coordinates the various student organizations including student recognition. You should ask for a job description in advance of your interview, as the specific duties will vary from campus to campus. (I have been on search committees where we have been underwhelmed by candidates who had no idea what the job they were intereviewing for was about.)

Here are some web sites for student activities advisor:

http://studentactivities.tamu.edu/main.h...
http://studentorganizations.missouristat...

These sites may give you a better understanding of policies for the advisors you will be coordinating:

I hope this will be of some help. I am a retired college administrator. Although student activities was not my area, I learned a lot through participation in our administrative council.

I don't work for a school, but I do know that SAA's take the student fee's money and put it towards things like entertainment (magicians, hypnotists, dj's, etc) and also if it's college, they'll use the money to help with scholarships. They put together events at the school and such.
