How many years of schooling does it take to become a social worker?

Question:I want to get my masters in social work but how many years does it take?

Answers:
after you get your high school diploma, you need your BA (bachelors degree) which is 4 years of study! after that if you want your masters, you need to make another 2 years, but you can work as a social worker with the BA only...=)
It is a 4 year college degree to become a social worker. You can go on and get your masters if you want after that. Usually with your masters you will get paid a little more. A masters is a 2 year program. So all together it is 6 years of college. It seems long but it really does go by fast I promise. :)
Most MSW programs are 60 credit units so it will generally take 2 years. Now if you do a BSW (4 year college degree) from a CSWE accredited social work program you can apply for advanced standing to most MSW programs (they are giving you credit for your BSW). Most Advanced standing Programs are 36-39 units and you can do this in one calendar year. So with a BSW you save yourself a year. If you know you are going to do a MSW this is the way to go. However if you already have a BA..you don't need to go back for an BSW and it would actually take you longer.
