I have been a plumber for about 15 years now and all I can tell you is that it all depends where you live and how important your local labor laws are. I work in Ct. and they require schooling and on the job training to fill the criteria for a pplumbing lisencse (2000 hours schooling and 8000 hours on the job training). You can't make over 2000 hours of on the job training a year in Ct. so this works out to about 4 years to obtain your P2... you still have to take classes, but most people take a night course a couple of nights a week to achieve this. In short... I would say get a job in the field first and take the night courses. Good luck!
