Question:My school has a weird system of do GPA's. Instead of it being on a 4.0 scale, they do it on 7 scale. If you are in AP (honors) classes and get an A, then that is a 7, but if you're in a regular class, you get a 6 for getting an A, but for regular electives, the highest you can get is a 6 for an A. So the highest GPA someone could get is a 6.5, for having AP classes and regular electives. It's confusing, so I was wondering how much do GPA's count? or is it the class rank that counts more?
Answers:
The three standards for admission are HS GPA, Class Standing (percentile rank), and standardized test score (ACT, SAT). As you might imagine, colleges get a lot of HS transcripts and are quite capable of determining what grades you got and translating that to their scale.
They both count a lot, probably the same. If you want to see what your GPA is in a 4.0 scale you can multiply it by 4/7.
