Should I change schools?

Question:I go to a private high school. It uses corporal punishment. My parents, brother, grandparents and aunts think I need it. I am a little irresponsible and immature and a lot of other stuff, but I htink I should change to public school. I'm in the tenth grade, and stayed back.

Answers:
There is nothing with public education...I think it's the best...because you do have some freedom...and you're saving that money that will go towards something else in your life!
Yes, I went to a private school and they blow.
i think you should i hate schools with corporal punishments but would your parents allow ?
GO TO PUBLIC SCHOOL it's great here. lack of discipline, easy work, drugs, sex, it's heaven. And by the time you get your college diploma, no one cares where you went to high school.
well, thats basically somthing only you can figure out for yourself. Do you think it would be a good thing in the long run? or do you think you would go down a bad path and make that decision a regret.
I would not recommend doing this unless you know a lot of people at the public school you are planning to go to. People already are in this "cliques" by high school and it's pretty hard to break them and you might just be left out and have to go back. Plus it will look a lot better to colleges if you went to a private high school.
usually people who need corporal punishment are spoiled brats. since your parents think you need it makes me believe you arent spoiled or a brat. (because they would never send their child to a school like that). what it all comes down to is yes change schools. if want a school that isn't a real pain in the *** then change to a public one.
Why do you think you should change? Do you think being a "little irresponsible and immature" will help you in a public school setting? The truth is, perhaps. But in general I think that a private school can offer you more individual attention. If it doesn't, then perhaps your parents should save their money or spend it on themselves if you are not benefitting from it.
If your parents say that you need to stay in that school then just tell them that its not working out that you need to change your school because that is so wrong if they tell you that you have to stay at a certain place that you don't want to be at just tell them that if they wanted the best for you then they would let you change your schools
Dear Sexi-Mexi,
I do not believe that anyone "needs" to be hit in order to convince them that they have acted inappropriately. That only teaches youngsters that physical violence is an acceptable way of proving your point. If you acted on that belief you, that is, if you punched, or even threatened to punch someone, if they did not do what you told them to do, then you could end up getting a similar punishment. How whack is that?
However, I guess corporal punishment is legal if parents agree to it at a private school. And our laws give parents much leeway in how they want to raise their children. If you want to go to a public school where you will not be hit if you make certain mistakes, then you have to prove to your parents that you will not make those mistakes.
Apparently you have a history of getting into trouble.
Can you set up a contract with them that if you do not do the things that they and your school disapprove of for one quarter, or maybe a semester, you can then go to public school for the rest of the year. And as long as you do not get into trouble there, you can stay there. But if you prove that you do not change your behavior when people DON'T hit you, that they are within their rights to put you back where people DO hit you when you're wrong. Only YOU control your behavior, so either with or without corporal punishment, you have a large say in whether you get it or not.
