Just try to be nice and outgoing, and introduce yourself to people. You will find people you like really fast that way. I had the same problem because I went to a new school for 7th grade. Trust me, just get out there and be nice and meet some people. It's the best way to go.

Be yourself. You don't want ppl to know someone who is totally made up. Also, wear clothes that express your personality to show ppl what your like even b4 they talk to you. And be friendly. ur not gonna make friends if ur rude to them.
take it easy, the same thing happened to me, what i did was just sit down, looked around saw if could recognise anyone familiar, and made friends with the person next to me, as you progress into the year you'll know who to be friends with and then you've got your whole school year ahead of you to do what you like
im in the 8th grade now and if your going to a new school you could just treat it as if you were going to 6th grade again and u will definatly make friends bacause everyone wants to know the new girl
